SiVIEW 0.1.17

The Arcadia report's "How to read a key" uses your own channels. The sample keys are now real keys from the configuration being printed, so the sheet never names a channel that file does not have. Until now every report showed the same four channel names, whichever show it was for. A kind of key the configuration does not use is left out of the legend.

Version history

0.1.17 — the Arcadia report’s "How to read a key" shows real keys from the configuration being printed, never a fixed list of channel names; a kind of key the configuration does not use is left out.

0.1.16 — NETGEAR smart switches (GS110TP, GS728TPP) open with the rest of a rig: VLANs, hybrid ports, management, users and SNMP by name, serial number, secrets never shown; a VLAN's differing names are counted, and a smart switch carrying an IGMP-Plus VLAN with no IGMP snooping is said.

0.1.15 — an Arcadia's Programs page: each HelixNet station's rear program input with the channels it is sent to and who is set to hear it, the base station's PGM port, the program keys, and from a snapshot who the I.V. Router was sending each program to; from a snapshot the Hardware page says which E1 positions had a transceiver on the air (one plugged straight into the base station included), its band and its beltpacks, and each wireless beltpack's state and transceiver; Help ▸ Send Feedback…; NETGEAR switch configurations open in a window of their own (one file, an Engage backup, or a folder holding a whole rig): VLANs and the ports that carry them, multicast and spanning tree, AV profiles and QoS, management, checks across the rig, two dates compared, CSVs, secrets never shown; Engage's tech-support file opens for its topology drawing and links, checked against the configurations.

0.1.14 — DiGiCo consoles open in a window of their own: a session's patch (channels with input, alt input, inserts and direct out; aux, groups and matrix with every socket they feed; every rack, MADI, Dante and Waves socket with what takes or feeds it), and a console report's log by day and kind, every session the engine loaded and whether it was the audio master as each started, the engine's own report, the cues with their groups, notes and MIDI, the macros by smart key with their commands in words, each strip's recall safes and inserts in or out, and its EQ drawn in a window of its own; CSVs of each.

0.1.13 — Clear-Com Arcadia saves open in a window of their own: roles by department with what is on each key, a page for each role with its mic, sidetone and other settings, two saves compared change by change, a page for GPIO and logic, channels and who has them, the base station's network (static or DHCP), transceivers, ports and registered units, notes kept for the system (with export and import), a landscape report for approval; the event log export and a Support Info snapshot open for reading the logs, and a snapshot names the HelixNet station that held each wired role and gives the transceivers' addresses. (0.1.8 to 0.1.12 were builds Simon tried and were never tagged.)

0.1.7 — select a device in Signal flow to light what it is patched to and grey the rest; return wires take the short way; a loop is drawn with its lightest wire as the return; larger hop-overs.

0.1.5 — Check for Updates works with no file open, in the app menu and on the welcome window.

0.1.4 — a welcome window with a drop target, Open… and recent files; empty support-data exports open and state the bound interface's link and address; internal and gateway log lines at their real times.

0.1.3 — Dante Controller support-data exports open as live snapshots; the Events view reads the log as episodes, colour-coded, searchable and filtered; clock, links and firmware at capture on every page; Events in the report and as CSV.

0.1.2 — the map redrawn for big rigs: islands as blocks, tall stages folded into rows, blocks packed to a window; PDF sheets cut by blocks and rows; empty-network report crash fixed.

0.1.1 — attention list nested by device with connected / missing-at-capture verdicts; "absent when saved"; LEADER tag; download page.

0.1.0 — first release: preset viewer, per-device signal flow, search, compare two saves, PDF and CSV output.

SiVIEW 0.1.16

NETGEAR smart switches. The GS110TP's and GS728TPP's saved configurations now open like the others, on their own or in a folder with the rest of the rig: their VLANs, each port's VLANs as the switch runs them, how the switch is managed, its users and SNMP by name, and its serial number. Passwords and SNMP keys are never shown.

Checks. A VLAN named differently on different switches now says the name most of them use and which switches differ. A smart switch that carries a VLAN with IGMP-Plus on the other switches is pointed out, since its file sets no IGMP snooping.

SiVIEW 0.1.15

NETGEAR switches. SiVIEW now opens NETGEAR switch configurations in a window of their own: one switch's saved configuration, an Engage backup, or a whole rig at once with File ▸ Open Folder of Switch Configurations… (or Open Folder… on the welcome window). It shows every VLAN and the ports and LAGs that carry it, each port's VLANs as the switch runs them, spanning tree and IGMP by VLAN, each VLAN's AV profile (Dante, Video and so on, from an Engage backup), QoS and PTP, how each switch is managed, and a page for each switch. A Checks page says what is worth knowing across the rig: which switch is set to be the spanning-tree root, IGMP-Plus on a VLAN with no querier setting in any file, links between switches that carry different VLANs at each end or are named at one end only, mismatched firmware. Compare puts two dates side by side, change by change. Passwords, SNMP keys and community strings are never shown. The lists save as CSV. Older smart-switch files (GS110TP, GS728TPP) are named as not read yet.

Engage's topology drawing. Engage's tech-support file opens too: its topology drawing as Engage drew it, every link in it (which port joins which switch, two cables where Engage drew a pair), and which switches it greyed out. Open a rig's configurations beside it and each link is checked: the ports at both ends, one LAG at each end of a pair, what each port is named, and the VLANs each cable carries at both ends. It also lists the links the configurations name that Engage did not draw, and says when the drawing and the configurations are of different switches.

Programs. A new page in an Arcadia's window shows where program comes from and who hears it. Every HelixNet station's rear program input is listed: on or off, the name it was given, the channels it is sent to, and the roles set to hear it, which are its own station and every HelixNet station with a key on one of those channels. The base station's PGM port is listed with the channel it is on. Opened from a Support Info snapshot, the page also lists each program the I.V. Router was sending and the stations listening to it, noting any that had it turned all the way down. The keys roles take program on are listed too. Also as CSV.

Transceivers on the E1 lines, as they were. Opened from a snapshot, the Hardware page now says which of the ten E1 positions had a transceiver on the air, its band, and the beltpacks it was carrying. That includes transceivers plugged straight into the base station with no splitter, which showed nothing before. Opened from a save, it shows the software the save recorded at each position.

Beltpacks at the snapshot. Each wireless beltpack says whether it was online and which transceiver it was on. A transceiver on the network lists its beltpacks too.

Help ▸ Send Feedback… sends feedback or a bug report to Decibel One from inside the app.

SiVIEW 0.1.14

DiGiCo consoles open, in a window of their own. Open a session (
.ses
) and see its patch: every channel with its input, its alt input, its inserts A and B and its direct output; every aux, group and matrix with every socket it feeds, the right side of a stereo one marked; and every rack, MADI stream, Dante card and Waves card socket by socket, with what takes each input and what feeds each output (a channel, an insert send, a Copy Audio copy). Names and short names are the console's own (A4, M1, Mi1). Search finds a channel, a socket or a name anywhere. Sessions from an SD7 of 2016 to Quantum v22 read; where an older session's records cannot be matched to its channels, the Overview says what was left out rather than guess.

Console reports. Open the engine's diagnostics report (
.ddr
) and see the session it was running, beside its log and its own report.

The log. Every line of the engine's log by date and time, filtered to a day, to a kind (alerts, errors, audio master, sessions, start and shut down, updates) or to a word, routine lines hidden unless you ask. A blue edge marks the lines logged while this engine was the audio master. The log is the engine's whole life, every show a rental console has done, and the page says so.

Session loads. Every session the engine loaded, newest first: from its own disk or received from the other engine (and the name it was saved under), and whether this engine was the audio master as it started — so a show loaded on the engine that was not the master, or pushed to the one that was, can be seen after the fact.

Safes and inserts. Each channel and output shows Safe when any of its recall safes is set (hover to count them), and each patched insert says whether it is in or out.

The EQ, drawn. A small curve beside each channel and output; click it for a window that draws the EQ: the SD channel EQ and its high- and low-pass filters and, on a Quantum, the Mustard EQ and filters alongside, each band in the console's colours with its shape, frequency, gain and Q. It is a drawing of the settings (standard bell, shelf and 24 dB/oct filter shapes), not a measurement; dynamic EQ is not drawn. Also as CSV.

Cues. Every cue (the console's snapshots) in its order: its number, its name, the Snapshot Group it belongs to, its note, the MIDI it sends (program changes and controllers, with their channels) and when it was last stored. Pick a group to see only its cues.

Macros. The smart keys bank by bank: each key's on and off macro side by side, in the key's own colour, and each macro's commands in the order the console runs them, in words where the file shows what they do — mute, main or alt input, insert in or out, an input patch, MIDI, OSC. Other commands keep the console's own code. Macros on no key are listed after.

The engine. Serial and engine A or B, software, its network and the addresses it was talking to, FPGA and SHARC dates and temperatures, DMI slots, the Optocore loop, and its settings (the last session file, Waves, SpaceMap, Fourier, mirroring) as the console writes them.

Each list exports as CSV: channels, outputs, sockets, EQ, cues, macros, the log, session loads. There is no PDF of a DiGiCo file yet.

A
Log.txt
taken out of a report opens on its own too. The welcome window lists the new files.

SiVIEW 0.1.13

Clear-Com Arcadia saves open, in a window of their own. Open the
.cca
that CCM's Save writes and see every role, grouped by department, with what is on each key: the channel, whether the talk key latches, In-Use Tally, and the key behaviour where it is not the usual one. Call keys, Reply keys and program channels are shown as what they are.

Channels, and who has them. Every channel lists the roles that have it on a key and the Arcadia ports on it; click a channel for the roles key by key. The overview also says what else the save holds: channels no role uses, a named port on no channel, logic events.

Notes. Type the show's name, a few lines about the system, and what each channel is used for. SiVIEW keeps them for every save of that system; the save itself is never written to. Export Notes writes them to a file for another Mac or another person, and Import Notes takes one in: notes already there are kept unless you choose Replace, which keeps a copy first.

Hardware. The transceivers the base station is set up for (on the network, and the positions on its E1 lines) and its own 2-wire, 4-wire, stage announce, program and Dante ports: what each is labelled, the channel it is on, line power, termination, call signal, gains and VOX. The HelixNet stations and the wireless beltpacks registered with it are listed too, each with its serial and software. Also as CSV.

Static or DHCP. The Hardware page starts with the base station's own network: each interface (Admin, IVC, AES67, Dante), the rear connector it is on, and whether its address is fixed or asked for, with the fixed address. From a Support Info snapshot the transceivers also show whether each was online and the address of its two interfaces, with Static or DHCP beside it.

A page for each role. Click a role's name for its own page: its keys in full, then everything else the role sets on the unit that takes it (mic type, sidetone, headphone and program levels, display, alerts, what is on its GPIO), named and worded as the save holds it. Where a role differs from most roles of its kind, the usual value is shown beside it. Also as CSV (Role Settings).

GPIO and logic. A page for what is wired to what: the base station's two inputs and four outputs with what is tied to each, the logic events (a role, an action, the port it acts on), the inputs and relays that station roles put to use (an input that presses the mic key), and beltpack logic inputs. Also as CSV.

Compare two saves. Choose an earlier or later save of the same Arcadia (or a Support Info snapshot) and the Compare page lists what changed: roles added, removed or renamed, each key that changed with its before and after, each role setting, channels, the base station's network, transceivers, registered units, ports and logic events. A renamed channel is one change, not one for every key on it. Export the changes as a PDF to send round, or as CSV.

Which station holds which role. A save ties each wireless beltpack to its role but says nothing of the HelixNet stations. A Support Info snapshot does, for the stations that were on when it was made: open one and each wired role names the station that held it, and the Hardware page says which stations were online, the role each held and its address. The report and the CSVs made from a snapshot name them too.

A report to send round for approval. Export PDF Report prints the roles by department on landscape pages, then the channels with their notes, marked FOR APPROVAL unless you untick it. Roles and channels also export as CSV.

Arcadia logs open for reading. CCM's Event Log export (
.csv
) and a Support Info snapshot (
.zip
) open in the same window: filter the event log to warnings and errors or to one unit, read each of the unit's logs by time and level, and search any of them for a word. A snapshot opens with its roles and channels too. PINs the logs record are not shown.

The welcome window lists the new files and where each comes from.

Version history

SiVIEW 0.1.7

Select a device in Signal flow to see what it is patched to. Click a device: its wires and the devices they connect to are drawn in the selection colour, and everything else is greyed. A wire whose subscriptions all need attention keeps its amber. Click the paper to clear the selection.

Return wires take the short way. A wire that runs back to an earlier device used to loop round the bottom of the whole drawing and back up the far side. Between neighbouring columns it now turns once in the gap between the two devices; across more columns it runs in a lane beneath and comes up beside the device it returns to.

Loops are drawn the right way round. Where devices feed each other in a loop, the wire carrying the fewest channels is the one drawn as the return, so a console sits beside what feeds it. Some files open with their devices in a different, clearer order.

Hop-overs are larger. Where one wire crosses another, the hop is a half circle about twice its old size, and it stays readable when the drawing is zoomed out.

A file draws the same way every time it is opened. Two long wires could trade lanes from one opening to the next.

The signal flow sheets in the PDF report are drawn the same way.

A welcome window. SiVIEW opens with a window: drop a preset (.xml) or a support-data export (.zip) on it, press Open…, or pick a file opened lately. A file that cannot be read says why in the window. The window closes when a file opens; clicking the Dock icon with no window open brings it back.

Empty support-data exports open. An export made while Dante Controller listed no devices (its
devices.json
is
[]
) was refused as unreadable. It now opens and states what the export holds: the interface Dante Controller was bound to, whether that interface had a link and an IPv4 address, which other interfaces held an address, and whether the event log holds events. The report prints the same.

Log times. Dante Controller's internal log prints a 12-hour clock with no AM/PM and no time zone. Its lines are placed at their real time from the timestamp in the log's file name. Gateway log lines use the UTC stamp they carry.

From an export's
system
folder SiVIEW reads the host name,
ifconfig.txt
and
networksetup.txt
. It does not read the process list, the hosts file or the hardware profile.

Dante Controller's support-data export, read and made readable.

Open the export. Dante Controller's *Export Support Data* zip opens like a preset (its
devices.json
alone does too). Every device comes through with its addresses, link speeds, clock state, PTP ports, flows and firmware, and every subscription with the status Dante Controller reported at capture. All the views, the report, the CSVs and Compare work on it.

Events. The event log as a drawing first: a timeline of the whole span, then the episodes on it — a burst with no minute of quiet inside, each summarised in a sentence (who became clock leader, who lost sync or was muted, whether they came back) — then the lines themselves, colour-coded: red for muted and lost sync, green for recovered, blue for a clock leader change, amber for an address off the subnet. Filter by kind, by device, by words, alarms only, newest first, or drill into one episode. Double-click a line to open the device. The gateway and internal logs sit on their own tabs.

At capture, everywhere. The overview shows the clock leader, who is out of sync, links down and alarms logged. Device pages carry the clock state, link speed and MAC, and a *Live at capture* section in Details. The report gains an Events section; *Events CSV* joins the exports.

A snapshot says absent at capture where a preset says absent when saved.

SiVIEW 0.1.2

The signal-flow map, redrawn for big rigs.

Islands are blocks. Devices that share subscriptions only among themselves form a group, drawn as one block in a dashed enclosure (GROUP 1 · 53 DEVICES), biggest first: a DSP and the amplifiers it feeds, a console and its stage boxes, side by side instead of one column. A 137-device venue save that drew fourteen thousand pixels tall now fits a window.

Banks fold. A stage too tall for its block — forty amplifiers on one server — folds into rows; a wire bound for an amplifier past the first column rides the channel above its row and drops into the port, its channel count on the run before the drop. Fans nest so a hub's wires never cross each other, and a gap widens to hold them at a readable pitch.

On paper the map is cut by whole blocks and between rows, then across, with off-sheet flags at all four edges. The scale steps down only when it saves a third of the sheets, never below a half.

Fixed: exporting a report crashed when a SiMONITOR system matched the preset's devices but could place none of them on a switch; an empty network drawing is now left out.

Refinements from the first day with the release in hand.

Needs attention is a list you can act on. Click the amber alert on a device page, or the Need attention tile on the Overview, and every subscription that needs attention is listed, nested by device: the receiver, then the transmitter it asks for, then the channels. Names open their devices. With a SiMONITOR capture attached, each channel says whether its label was connected or missing at capture, dated, so a save from the morning and the rig as it stood that afternoon are never confused.

"Absent when saved." A transmitter that Dante Controller could not see when the preset was saved is now described as exactly that, in the boxes, the status label, the overview and the report, instead of "not in this file". Its subscriptions stay, by name, and connect when it appears.

Sidebar. Preferred clock leaders wear a small LEADER tag beside their name; the amber circle stays the only pip.

SiVIEW 0.1.0

The patch, read from the file

Save a preset from Dante Controller, open it in SiVIEW, and the whole patch is on one screen. Nothing is ever written back to the preset — this is a viewer, and the file stays exactly as it was saved.

Overview — the preset's name, when it was saved, how many devices, channels and subscriptions it holds, the sample rates and latencies in play, which device is the preferred clock leader, and a sortable table of every device with its addresses.

Signal flow — the whole rig drawn as a schematic: every device a titled box in signal-flow columns, every device pair one wire run orthogonally through its own track between the columns, never through a box, ending at the input port with its channel count as a wire tag. Pen weight follows the channel count; long wires ride corridor buses; feedback wires return beneath; absent transmitters are dashed and amber; unpatched devices sit in their own strip. Hover a wire for its channels, double-click a box to open the device. On paper it is a landscape drawing with a zoned border and a title block, cut into sheets with off-sheet flags.

Network — with a SiMONITOR system attached, a second drawing, drawn as a riser: every primary switch heads a column with its devices stacked beneath it, the primary bus down one side and the secondary bus down the other, each device joining with a stub and a junction dot; core switches above, secondary switches below. Uplinks are read off the switches' port tables, a device's secondary port is found by the MAC one above its primary, pen weight is link speed, an unmanaged switch nobody can read is drawn dashed where the devices beyond a port sit, and a ten-gigabit port the report saw up but read nothing on is an open stub, never a guess. On paper: a grid of drafting sheets with a key, zone-referenced flags at every cut and a title block with the save's date as its revision.

Every drawing zooms and pans like a drawing app — pinch, ⌥-scroll or ⌘-scroll about the cursor, ⌘= ⌘- ⌘0 ⌘9 in the View menu, ⌘6 to zoom to a selected box and what it is wired to, and the space bar for a hand that drags the sheet.

Flow — the device in the middle, everything feeding it on the left, everything it feeds on the right, one line per subscription, a transmit channel fanning out to each of its destinations. Hover a line to read the full patch; double-click a device or a line to follow the signal there. A transmitter that is not in the file is drawn dashed and amber.

A page per device — Receive, Transmit, Multicast and Details tabs: every receive channel and where it listens, every transmit channel and who listens to it, multicast flows, and every setting the file records. Double-click a line to jump to the device at the other end of it.

Sources — pick any transmit channel and every destination it feeds lists beneath it. On a device's Transmit tab, or across the whole file in the Sources view. The mirror of the patch list.

Patch list — all subscriptions in one table, by receiver, sortable by any column.

Search — type a device, a channel label or an address and the results page lists the devices, every transmit channel with every place it is patched to, and every receive channel with what feeds it; a result opens the device on the right tab. On list pages the same field filters in place and marks the text it matched.

Back, Forward and the trail — clicking from device to device is a journey; ⌘[ and ⌘] retrace it, and a trail of the devices visited runs across the top of the page, each a click away.

Needs attention — a subscription to a transmitter that is not in the file (a device that was offline when the preset was saved), or to a channel label the transmitter does not have, is called out in the sidebar, on the device, in the patch list and in the report.

The look

Ink on drafting paper by day, a cyanotype by night, on a drafting grid — the same plates as SiMONITOR, so the two read as one suite. IBM Plex Sans for names, IBM Plex Mono for every channel number and label so they stand in columns. The device table carries each device's firmware and its Dante firmware.

The network beside the patch

When SiMONITOR knows the rig, SiVIEW finds its system file on this Mac and joins it to the preset by MAC address — a Dante device id carries the MAC, so no names need to match. Every device then shows its switch and port, the link speed, its live address and when it was last seen: in the device table, on the device page, in every box on the Map, and in the report, which gains a Network section — the switches carrying the rig, the channels crossing between switches, ports under a gigabit carrying channels, devices whose two ports land on one switch, and live transmit labels that differ from this save. The patch list and Sources show the switch path a subscription takes. File ▸ Import SiMONITOR System… attaches a system file or a SiMONITOR report from another Mac; a transmitter missing from the save but present on the network is said to be.

Two saves, side by side

Choose another save of the same preset and SiVIEW lists what changed: devices added, removed or renamed, subscriptions added, removed or moved, channel labels, addresses, sample rate, latency, clock and every other setting — each as one line with its before and after. A renamed device is recognised by its Dante id, so a rename reads as a rename, not as one device lost and another found.

On paper and in a spreadsheet

PDF report — US Letter, in the house face: summary and device table, sources by transmitter with their destinations, the patch list by receiver, and a page per device with its flow diagram. The choices sit in the save panel. Choose which parts to include and whether device pages list every channel or only the patched ones.

Patch changes PDF — the comparison, one section per kind of change.

CSV — patch list, sources, devices, channels, and patch changes, each ready for a spreadsheet.
